Today I get to share a very cool baby quilt with you.  This one was made with lots of input from the mom, and I have to say she nailed it!

My fellow Brooklynite, Stefanie from the home design blog Brooklyn Limestone, was designing the nursery for her second baby, this one a boy.  And in my book, every nursery needs a baby quilt.  Am I right or am I right?  So I chatted with Stefanie and learned she was planning a modern safari “hello world” themed nursery and really liked the idea of using a map printed fabric for the baby quilt.

Being a home design blogger with impeccable taste, Stefanie wanted a map print that didn’t have a lot going on and she really liked the vintage map look.

After some searching, I found this one from the Etsy store Mapology.  It is one panel and the size works perfectly for the back of a baby quilt.

The colors and the vintage look make for a very cool nursery.

For the front of the quilt, Stefanie wanted something geometric looking and chose a herringbone pattern.  I used Kona Cotton Cadet for the herringbone.  It pulls out one of the blue colors from the map fabric and also coordinates with the blue and white colors she’s using for the nursery.

I’m calling this baby quilt a success.  Stefanie just had her baby over the weekend and I can’t wait to see the finished nursery.  I’ll be sure to post a link to Stefanie’s blog post once it’s up.
